I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and mother of 3 children. I worked as an elementary classroom teacher before completing my Masters in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Since then I continue to work in the public school system as an elementary school counsellor, as well as seeing children with anxiety disorders in a private practice setting.
I firmly believe that children have two main tasks in life: soaking up information (learning) and having fun (socializing). In my teaching I have found that students are sometimes so overwhelmed or preoccupied with certain emotions that they are stuck and unable to absorb all that life has to offer them.
My goal is to help children feel that they can master their emotions. I do this primarily through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but also through play.
